If you like Scott Stevens, then keep your eyes open for a guy named Mike Sgroi. He played for the Men O War of the ECHL and Utah of the AHL. In the off season he fights in Tough Man contests and Golden Gloves Boxing Contests. I would say, with out much thought, that he is the toughest guy in hockey, at any level. In addition to that he is smart so he can antagonize others without loosin his cool. Plus he is just fuckin cool as hell...SOOOO FUNNY. Be lookin for him, he's on his way up.

Everyone is scared of Sgroi. I saw him hit a guy just one time and the guy crumbled to the ice like a bag of broken bones. And I've seen guys see him come on the ice and fly back to the bench,once they saw him come out. Even if they just came on for thier shift.

It's an astonishing phenomena. An investment analyst, for example, who has unkempt hair and crooked teeth, you'd describe as an investment analyst with bad hair and worse teeth. But, a hockey player with '70's-style hockey hair, which flips up at the sides and lies flat on top, and who smiles with a mouthful of chipped teeth? Well, he's a cute hockey player. It's easy to understand why women fall for hockey players, with their scars, their sweat, their testosterone filling the arena. Some women fall exceptionally hard though. A couple of weeks ago, I attended my first hockey event, an exhibition Toronto Maple Leafs game at the Air Canada Centre. This is where I was first introduced to the phrase "Puck Bunny." It's such a cute little phrase isn't it, to describe the type of women who are hockey player groupies? What I've since learned is hockey player groupies are exactly like groupies who hang around rock stars. They're there because hockey players have money, celebrity, and make for a good challenge. "I know I'm just a side-dish," says one woman, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, but admits she's slept with three hockey players. "It does become an addiction. But I'm not after anything they're not. I'm not looking for love." Like the music world, there are different categories of Puck Bunnies . Some will hang outside the dressing room, or at practice. Some will know which bars players frequent after games, and some will go so far as to travel with players -- or follow them -- city to city. Some women will do anything -- I mean anything -- to be near these guys. Thus, the other names for them in the locker room; "Puck F---s," "Dirties," and "Slutties." But can you blame hockey players for taking advantage of what's literally thrown at them? Or do you blame the women for wanting to take part to such an extent? To anyone with half a brain, it seems such odd behaviour. But it happens. There are stories of women who ask for players' autographs on their chests -- after taking their shirts off, and others who will drive alongside players' buses, taking off their shirts in their cars, to the amusement of players watching out their windows. And much, much, worse. "Puck Bunnies understand sex is part of it," says one former NHL player who is now an agent for players. "You can make a smart ass comment to a Puck Bunny in a bar like, 'Are your pants too tight or are you wearing them just for me?' Any other woman would walk away, but if they stick around, they're puck bunnies." Puck Bunnies are easier to pick out of a crowd than the hockey players themselves, it seems. "You're not dressed tarty enough," said one usher to me and my friend at Wednesday night's game at the Air Canada Centre. "You have to wear a really tight shirt, really short skirt and thong underwear." Puck Bunnies know who the hockey players are because they do research. They read player's bios and look at pictures. They know what kind of cars players drive and where they park them. They'll leave notes under their windshield wipers. "Every city has got groupies," says Darcy Tucker, of the Maple Leafs. "Groupies have a fantasy that they think being an NHL wife is something great. It's not. It's a lot of time alone. It's quite taxing on the family when you travel so much. They have no idea how hard it is to be a hockey wife." So what's the attraction? "It's a rough sport. I know when I come home from a game and I have a new scar my wife really likes it," he says. Cory Cross -- "Crosser" -- another Leaf, says, "Hockey players also have big hearts. When we lose the playoffs you'll see many tears." Hockey players, he says, don't have trouble meeting women. They have trouble meeting the right women. "It's hard to meet good women in a bar. I met my first wife in a bar." The "guys" are more cautious now when it comes to Puck Bunnies, than they were 10 years ago when salaries were low. They fear what they do will come back to them -- in forms of bribery, lawsuits or criminal charges. "People forget that we're no different from any other guys," says Leaf rookie Don MacLean. "We go boozing and pick-up like other single guys." He's not married, but has a long-distance relationship. "Yeah, they never really work. But you keep trying." Today's hockey players are wary about talking about what really happens after-hours. Some of it isn't printable. "It's a touchy subject," says the former NHL player. "A lot of them are married, some very happily. But most of them have taken part in Puck Bunnies. Part of the fun is sitting around with the guys and talking about sex and how far they went, and how things happened with these girls." Some players have nicknames based on their sexual conquests and/or sexual preferences. "Backdoor" was one. The former player says most hockey players know the right bars or hangouts where Puck Bunnies can be found in every city they travel. "They know who to call at 3 a.m. I remember once being really proud of a girl I took home. The guys were egging me on, making me tell them the whole story. It turns out she slept with everyone on the team." Puck Bunnies, he says, will do anything for the players. "We used to go to bars and tell some of them to wait by the door and if we couldn't find anyone else better, then we'd take them home with us. And they'd wait for hours in one spot for us." Hockey players, he explains, are actually nice guys. They look out for each other -- even when it comes to getting laid. "Because we'd share rooms a lot, you'd end up watching your roommate have sex. You'd maybe pretend to be asleep but if you started watching and the girl didn't mind, you could join in. It's OK because we saw each other naked in the change room all the time." Hahaha, Maybe its good that you cant get to a game. I love goin to games tho'. In the 8 years that my city has had teams, I've missed a total of 6 games. And five of those were because I was ungodly pregnant. Everyone that new me said, "I can't believe you are gonna have a baby in the middle of hockey season. What if you have to miss a game?" It's just an exciting game man! It really is. I hate the fact that even espn almost ignores the fact that the playoffs are going on, they'll spend 15 minutes on baseball and like a second on hockey. and in my local news stations its the same shit. let me not even say anything about newspapers. Nope, hockey's only good when the panthers are winning, that's such bullshit. The closest I came to even going to a game when the panthers were in the playoffs was my history teacher giving me a program "panthers vs. avalanche" GOD DAMNIT. I hate South FL!

You should check out the minor league teams. There are several in florida. The Solar Bears are in/near Orlando, i think. And the Everblades are near Ft Myers (not near you, I know). I'll have to think about other Floridian teams. Maybe check out the American Hockey League site or the East Coast Hockey League site. If you need links to those, lemme know.

Jed made me realize, a few hours later that Daylight Savings Time had totally confused me. Before DST, I could just add 4 hours to my time and change it to tomorrow. But now since we went up an hour (cause it's spring here) & Australia went back an hour (cause it's fallish there, I only have to add 2 hours.

I think we should have Daylight Givings whetre we move the hour back one hour and have more darkness at the end of the day, allowing freaks, bisexuals and generally ugly people to roam the streets once more.
