Gibson is a good company that makes quality USA made instruments by Americans who get payed well and work well. Gibson also needs to sell shitty cheap guitars so they have a korean company called epiphone that has little worthless children make "Gibson" copys with shit wood, shit parts, and shit everything. They put epiphone on the headstock and all the sudden every crack smoking fool thinks its a real Gibson.

Listen, Im a guitar nerd. Im obsessed with guitars. Ive had 2 nights in a row with dreams about an amp.

If you think epiphone makes the best Les Paul copys you are are hitting the crack rock extremely hard.
Just about ANY guitar company that has guitars made in the USA or Japan have better quality than epiphone.
Epiphone guitars are made in the Samick guitar factory in Korea which makes korean lower quality guitars for dozens of companys. Everyone from Ibanez, to LTD (ESP's korean lower quality line)
Here are people who make better LP copys than epiphone:
Heritage (they have tons of models)
Tokai (the "love rock" guitar)
Vintage Ibanez (late 70's early 80's lawsuit era)
ESP (the japanese, and New York/Cali made Eclipses)
You obviously have no idea what your talking about and I know too damn much about what Im talking about. |

Epiphones are shit because:
1.The mahogany used it low quality, and not the good south african haundoran mahogany used by all the good companys. Oh and the flame maple tops are usually not real flame, its photo flame, like a PICTURE GLUED TO WOOD. And they use like 5 pieces of wood glued together for the mahogany back.
2.The pickups are NO-NAME and sound like brital shit and are practicly free to make. The magnets used are of no quality.
3.The hardware (metal parts, bridge/tuners/electronics) are made of metal that is so soft and shitty, and are finished so bady the gold plated stuff usually peals right off in just a few years.
4.The craftsman ship is done mostly by CNC machines, not actually people.
And I am damn correct in using the analogy:
Gibson=Lexus

There are about a thousand guitars that are good and under $500, epiphone is like bottom of the line crap.
Let me think...
1.You can go to Carvin's website, and get a made in USA custom strat style bolt on that is better quality than a USA strat.
2.You can get a used Gibson SG-X (single bnridge humbucker, coil tap switch) made in USA. Around $450
3.You can get a new faded SG Special for $489, or a faded V for $600 both made in the USA.
4.Ibanez RG570's are good, at around $550. Made in japan, good quality.
5.You can get a used Japanese made Jackson.
6.Fender made in japan tele's and strats.
You just have to learn to tell the good shit, from the shit that is just made to look good.
Here is a Japanese made Charvel, its only $400 used, but its just as good as a new USA Jackson for $1200, perfect fuckin metal guitar: |
