GUTTERMOUTH “GUSTO”
Epitaph 2002 a cura di Davide Tamburlini
La band di Hunington Beach a poco più di un anno dall’uscita della loro prima prova per Epitaph Records dopo lunga militanza su Nitro purtroppo ci offre un’altra, a malincuore mi tocca dirlo, deludente prova.
Sono una delle band punk più amate dal pubblico italiano perchè durante le loro prove live hanno sempre saputo trascinare i ragazzi ma purtroppo sia in “Covered with Ants” che in “Gusto” non sono riusciti a trasportare la loro energia in studio. Se il primo album su Epitaph non aveva ricevuto critiche positive e tutto sommato in quell’album lontanamente si poteva ancora riscontrare il loro classico sound in questo nuovo album veramente sembra di trovarsi davanti ad una band completamente differente.
Tutto l’album è all’insegna del pop-punk più smielato e mite. Veramente spaventosa e preoccupante la metamorfosi che Mark e compagni hanno subito. Solitamente questi cambiamenti cosi repentini li abbiamo visti in band che sono passate su major (vedi Blink182) ma è totalmente inspiegabile una perdita cosi repentina di velocità, potenza e energia soprattutto visto che sono entrati a far parte della scuderia Epitaph da sempre garanzia di ottimo punk.
Ci sono solo poche tracce come “Camp Fire Girl” o “Walk of Shame” in cui si può trovare il loro vecchio stile. Una prova deludente e sconfortante che ci fà prospettare a breve termine, se è veramente questo quello che ormai riescono a produrre, la fine di un grande gruppo come i Guttermouth...quanto rimpiango i tempi di “Gourgeous” e pensare che sono passati solo tre anni...

The band of Hunington Beach to little more of a year dall’gone out of their first test for Epitaph after long Records militanza on I Neigh unfortunately offers us a’other, unwillingly touches to say me it, disappointing test. I am an of the band bitterer punk from the Italian public because during their test live always knew to drag the boys but unfortunately is in “Covered with Ants” that in “Flavor” did not succeed to transport their energy in study. If the first album on Epitaph had not critical receiver positive and all adds in quell’album remotely still verifies their classic sound in this new album really seems to find itself in front to an entire band different. All l’album is all’sign of the pop one-punk more smielato and moderate. Really frightening and worrying the metamorphosis than Mark and companions have immediately. Usual these sudden changes things we saw them in band that you are passed on major (see Blink182) but is total inexplicable a sudden speed of things loss, power and energy above all seen that are entered to make part of the stable Epitaph from always guarantee of excellent punk. There are alone little tracks like “Camp Fire Girl” or “Walk of Shame” in which finds their old style. A test disappointing and discouraging that us fà you show short-term limit, if is really this what now succeed to produce, the end of a large group like the Guttermouth. ..quanto I regret the times of “Gourgeous” and to think than alone three years are passed.. I devote 4 (Album without of it head of it tail, 14 tracks recorded without some convinzione) |

| Ronnie Dobbs happened to be a character on the h.b.o series Mr.Show with Bob and David. You might remember Bob and David in a few small roles in movies like, The Cable guy, Scary Movie 2, and Men in Black. David is the goofy looking guy, and Bob is the somewhat normal looking one.
