A GRATEFUL refugee couple has paid their respects to Philip Ruddock by naming their new-born baby after the immigration minister.
Baby Philip Ruddock was born to an Iraqi asylum seeker in Port Moresby General Hospital three weeks ago.
He is the third child of a couple, who remain in detention on the Papua New Guinean island of Manus, but have been granted refugee status.
"They wrote Mr Ruddock a letter expressing their gratitude," a spokeswoman for the minister said.
"They sent a photocopy of the birth certificate and the letter."
Just over 100 asylum seekers remain in detention on Manus Island after PNG agreed to house them for another year. |

they're not doing a whole lot of anything for any refugee... most Iraqi refugees get locked up for years to be processed, rejected and deported home. Whats more is taht the government then slaps them with a bill for the money spent keeping them in detention.

the comp people they confirmed
recieving them
Havent had the chance to mix

we went to the car show this wknd.
But ya hopin for tomorrow.
and Buck theyre getting a place to
stay and free food, medicine, etc for
another year!! thats what PNG is

PNG is being paid millions of dollars by the Australian government to hold the refugees that were heading to our country. Instead of spending money on worthwhile solutions to the thousands of boat people that come here each year, they're spending too much money on short term fixes to keep voters happy.
Free food and limited medicine... you get treated better in Prison, and most likely have more freedom in there too. |

they get a scrub, check up and back on the boat in

| lets hope their boats are better off.. unlike the ones that seem to be ready to fall apart on their way here. Last year one boat sunk killing something like 300 asylum seekers... another boat had to be rescued... |
