The Drunkard gamely answers AA's Twelve Questions
1)have you ever decided to stop drinking for a week or so, but only lasted for a couple of days?
Sure. It's called being broke, then not being broke.
2) do you wish people would mind their own business about your drinking--stop telling you what to do?
Well, yeah. First on the list would be A.A. and the list is not alphabetical.
3)Have you ever switched from one kid of a drink to another in the hopes that this would keep you from getting drunk?
To "keep me" from getting drunk? who the hell drinks in hopes of not getting drunk? these guys got it all backwards. At about midnight i switch from beer to whiskey to get me DRUNKER. Sheesh! And they claim to be alcoholics. Lightwieghts anonymous is more like it.
4)have you had to have an "eye opener" upon waking up during the last past year?
Are we talking about hair of the dog? Hey, baby like screamin'jay says, "Whatever takes away the pain has got to be right."
5) Do you envy people who can drink without getting into trouble?
Only when charges are pressed.
6) Have you had problems connected with drinking during the past year?
Oh HELL YEAH, try to get a properly made dirty dry martini in a sports bar and tell me you aint got a problem.
7)Has your drinking caused a problem at home?
Hey if my roomates didn't want me to drink all their beer they should have found a better hiding place.
8)Do you ever try to get "extra" drinks at a party because you do not get enough?
What the hell planet are you guys from? It's a party.The drinks are free. But only if you get to them first. what the hell is an "extra drink" abyway? It's like trying to make a hobo grasp the concept of "extra change".
9)Do you tell yourself you can stop drinking any time you want to, even though you keep getting drunk when you don't mean to?
Getting drunk when i didn't mean to? what the hell do these dumb bastards think we are doing--slipping and falling into vats of liquor? I'm pretty sure i meant it every time. And i can stop drinking anytime i want to. It's called "going to sleep".
10) Have you missed days of work or school because of drinking?
I don't like to think of it as "missing work". I never "miss" work.i like to think of them as "unscheduled mini-vacations" with cocktails.
11) Do you ever have "blackouts"?
None that i can remeber.
12) Have you ever felt that your life would be better if you did not drink?
Every red wine/cheap-whiskey hangover. Then i consult question number four and I'm right back on top.

R: I fucking love Boxcar Racer. It’s the shit. It’s funny, like – I don’t wanna sound gay or weird – but like listening to blink all my life – like middle school through high school, you can relate to them in a lot of ways. And it’s weird that Tom comes out with a project that sounds more like what we’re doing, and it’s like they’re growing with me. So I think that’s really cool.
PD: Like they’re going on with you.
R: Yeah, it’s like that. But I also like Jimmy Eat World and stuff like that – Clarity is such an awesome CD.
PD: Do you like Cheshire Cat?
R: I fucking love Cheshire Cat dude, that’s the first album I heard, you know? They used to play at my high school.
PD: That’s so lucky.
R: They weren’t even big back then, not even like when they had Dude Ranch. They were just, uh, they were probably like as big as The Starting Line or someone like that. I heard their songs and shit, and when I heard they were playing a concert at my school, I freaked out. I got so excited, I couldn’t even watch it cuz I worked myself sick over it. I was throwing up in the bushes and shit, I had to go to the nurse’s office. It sucked.
PD: What’s your favorite song on that CD?
R: I dunno, I fucking love that whole CD – it used to be Ben Wah Balls but I dunno. Like M&M’s and Carousel are staple songs.
PD: So going back to Drive-Thru, what would you say is your favorite band on the label?
R: I dunno. I like all the bands – I love the new Rx Bandits, and the new Something Corporate, the new Home Grown, the new Starting Line and the new Allister. They’re all awesome. Something Corporate rules.
PD: They bring a great new sound, but so do you guys.
R: Yeah, we weren’t going for any kind of punk. We used to play like rock, like a Deftones kinda thing. And I always listened to Blink and shit, and Jimmy Eat World, and I wanted to do something different. Not to get away from it, just to try something new, and with the other guys’ backgrounds, it just like created our sound and it doesn’t sound like anything we really came from.
PD: You hit that gray area.
R: Yeah.
PD: Well, that’s probably it. Thanks a lot dude.
